"Education is still the transformative tool that moves us from one place to the other. Our children and communities deserve great schools!"
Anthony Anderson has been a Memphian since 1995. He is married to Dr. Celia Rousseau-Anderson and is the father to five children. He holds an undergraduate degree from Jackson-State University and a seminary degree from Vanderbilt University. He is currently the pastor of Faith UMC in Frayser and CEO of the Memphis Business Academy Charter Schools.
Anthony Anderson has actively been involved in public education in Memphis for over 18 years. He has moved from running afternoon tutoring programs and summer camps (1996-2003) to creating one of the most dynamic charter networks in Memphis. In 2004, after having run tutoring and summer programs for urban youth for 8 years, he guided a group of people to create the Memphis Business Academy Charter Schools. MBA was chartered in the fall of 2004 and opened its first class in August 2005 with 68 students. From is inception MBA's primary focus was on North Memphis--a place where parents had few school choices for the children. Since that time MBA has grown to over 950 students with two campuses--both in the Frayser community.
